Rescue:
A man had left a desperate message on our phone line about four cats that he and his wife
had been caring for. In early May a pretty little torti cat showed up on their back deck, very
pregnant. They provided her with shelter and the kittens were born healthy and the couple
enjoyed watching them grow and explore their gardens. But there were risks in allowing them
to remain outside, and one day the worst thing happened and a kitten was hit by a car on the
busy street. Barricades were then put up, but as the kittens grew they knew they would not be
able to confine them to the yard much longer. A local cat rescue took the mom and kittens,
Oreo, Licorice and Marmalade, had them spayed and neutered and said they would find them
homes. The couple were sad to see them go, but relieved that they would be cared for. Then
the unthinkable happened. The woman said she couldn’t keep them and would be releasing
them back onto the couples property. Oh no. Knowing friends of theirs fostered for Pet Patrol,
a plan was put in place and the cats are now under the umbrella of Pet Patrol. They are safe
and sound and adjusting to life indoors very well.
Personality:
Oreo is the smallest of the colony of cats that all reside in the same foster home, and has the
biggest heart. They came together so they would have familiarity and adjust well. His fur is
amazingly soft and you are encouraged to pet him and give him kitty massages, which he
loves and rewards you with deep purrs and smiles. He is the first to greet you in the morning
with a chat and chirp, such a sweet personality. Oreo is affectionate and will head butt you for
attention, coils around your ankles and leans into you as well. He is very good with other cats
and the resident dog, likes to play games and can make a toy out of anything ( laser light, hair
scrunchies, bread bag tag ). Oreo is ready to be adopted into his forever home with a playmate.
One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
