Rescue:

A Pet Patrol volunteer received a call from a former colleague who has a farm property. Several
years ago, we helped her with a trap neuter release program (aka TNR) for the 25 odd
cats on the farm. They were trying to control the overpopulation problem with their cats who
were all black and white in colour. Now things are all tidy and cats are definitely healthier and
more content, but last fall a new boy showed up. This was Tom. He was very shy and unsure
and the family allowed him to join the rest of the cats in the barn. Most country cats migrate
from barn to barn. By the spring they knew that he wasn’t leaving and it was time to have him
neutered. As soon as that was done, and he had a taste of being inside, his true loving and
affectionate personality came through. Such a nice boy and so appreciative of his people, but
now he wanted in the house, desperately. Not wanting another indoor cat and because he
was no longer satisfied with staying in the barn, he came to Pet Patrol and is now ready for

Personality:

Tom is a very handsome cat, who is muscular and in very fine form. He is quite handsome.
He is very friendly and affectionate and likes to rub up against his people’s legs and ask for
attention. Petting, brushing, ear rubs and a nice back massage are all enjoyed by him on a
regular basis. Like all cats he is curious about toys and the cat tree. The laser pen light and
the kitty tunnel were mysterious to him before, but he has learned that they are quite good fun.
Tom has been around a lot of other cats before, but was not comfortable with the large number
at the country property, or at the sanctuary. He would do better as an only cat or with one other
easy going female. Tom is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome
him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
