Rescue:
Pet Patrol has a wide variety of volunteers who live throughout the Tri-City area, and they
always look out for stray cats in their neighborhood. This is the story of Teddy. He appeared
as a very timid but curious boy and it is unknown how much human exposure he has had in his
life. When people tried to approach him, he would run away quickly from them, sometimes
stopping to look back, and then carrying on again. This cherub faced champagne boy had
been living in the same neighbourhood for at least a year and a dedicated couple had been
leaving food out for him. He had been noticed since the winter of 2020. Eventually he started
coming every night and hanging around one house that provided him with shelter for the
winter. Although this was just a temporary situation and the couple planned on rescuing him as
soon as they knew Pet Patrol had room at the sanctuary. Being part of a rescue organization
means that you have ready access to humane traps and it took no time for our volunteers to
rescue Teddy and bring him into care.
Personality:
Teddy was lucky that he was brought in before the weather turned bitterly cold, windy and
snowy, he missed living through another nasty winter. In Pet Patrol care it has taken time to
earn his trust, but he is a magnet for treats and this has encouraged him to come closer to
people. He now readily offers his belly for a good rub to his favourite volunteers, purrs readily
and is a happy cat. He is adorable, gentle and loves his toys as well. Teddy is good with
other cats, observant of all that is going on in the playroom of the sanctuary, but is not a fan on
the vacuum. If there is a loud noise or small children he will hide completely out of sight. He is
most comfortable with his best buddy Spencer. Teddy is ready to be adopted into a gentle
forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
