Rescue:
Iris is a community cat. She came from a small town where cats are regularly dumped off. We
are not sure if she was brought to this remote village as a teenager, but she is a lovely girl.
This village has a lot of cat lovers in it and they make a point of rehoming the friendly ones and
having the feral cats spayed or neutered. Iris already had five kittens with her and they secretively
took refuge under one woman’s back deck. As soon as she saw the kittens running
around on her lawn, darting in and out of the plants and chasing the occasional bug, she knew
they needed to be rescued. A humane trap was set up and in no time Iris and her babies were
on their way to Pet Patrol. Initially she wasn’t able to be pet, that came with time and patience,
but now she is a very friendly and affectionate cat with her foster mom. It is very rewarding to
see a kitty develop and become a confident, trusting and care free house cat after living on the
street without much positive interaction with people.
Personality:
Iris has come a long way in her little life, socially. She can now be pet, will jump up on the bed
with you, share the couch and likes to be your companion. She is interested in everything that
you do and knows your routine. She will bunt her head into your leg for your attention, flop
down on the floor so you can rub her with your feet and stretches out on the couch beside you
for a nice back massage. As a loyal kitty to her people, Iris is fine with other cats but doesn’t
necessarily need that companionship. She is ready to be adopted into her forever home.
One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
