Melba

Melba

Melba

Rescue:

A woman had been calling around to different rescues in her area, trying to find a place for a
pretty cat in her backyard. This is Melba’s story: Apparently this pretty Torti had been crying at
her door for a few months. She wasn’t able to bring it into her house (as much as she loves
cats) because her husband was highly allergic. She immediately she began feeding her and
developed a routine in the morning and in the evening, but where she slept overnight; they
never did figure that out. She appeared to be clean and dry when she came into the sanctuary
so she must have found a corner somewhere inside a shed, or the neighbours dilapidated
pool house possibly. Because Melba would only come within a few feet of the woman, she
was rescued by using a humane trap, and on the drive to the sanctuary she was asking a lot of
questions (mewing). Upon arrival she was easy to pet and pushed her head into our hands
with love and affection. At this time she was hugely pregnant and she had her kittens within seven days.

Personality:

Melba is a sweet cat who loves her scratching post and enjoys visiting the resident cats in her
foster home. She would do well with another friendly feline in the house, especially if her new
owner is not working from home. She is a cat that likes to drink running water, especially from
a pet water fountain, enjoying a big drink every morning. To help her keep active and healthy
she goes for hallway walks in the foster home apartment building, but never outside. Melba will
chase the laser pen light and wand toys. As an affectionate girl she can easily be picked up
and rocked like a baby, likes to lay on your lap and snuggle up at bedtime. Described as a
Chatty Kathy when you arrive home; telling you about her day and asking about yours. So
cute. Melba is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the
family and keep her safely indoors.
