Rescue:
A woman who lives in a small village which is known for its quaint main street and tourist
attractions, found Raymond living in the bush. She and her friend walk the mill race every
day and over the years have rescued other cats that they found along the way. One day
they saw Raymond, strikingly orange and sitting in the green grass. He stood right out. As
soon as he realized they were approaching him he dashed away in fear. As the days and
weeks went on the women put food out for him every day at the same spot. Eventually he
started waiting for them but would not come close. Fast forward six or seven months and
Raymond was now rubbing up against their legs in appreciation. Yes, he was a friendly cat.
Within a few weeks he was able to be rescued with a humane trap and brought into Pet
Patrol care. Immediately we were able to pet him. The woman would visit him daily at the
sanctuary and within a week he was rolling over and letting her rub his belly. This boy was
well on his way to be being himself, relaxed friendly and affectionate.
Personality:
Raymond has adjusted to living in doors without a hitch. The first few days he was quite
intimidated by all the changes, but he soon realized that he was safe, warm and would be
well looked after. His foster mom reports, after just a few weeks that he is not a lap cat, is
learning that he can’t jump up on the stove, preferably not on the table or counters, but the
wide window sills and beautiful view is all his. He has been a lone soldier for so long that he
wasn’t sure about the other cat in the house, but they are working through their differences.
He is happy. Raymond is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome
him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
