Rescue:

A retired woman called Pet Patrol concerned about the fluffy cat that she had been feeding
for about three years. The cat had had at least three litters of kittens under her back deck.
Every year she would watch them crawl out at about five or six weeks of age, eat the food
they put out but none were rescued. Whether the neighbours helped find them homes or if
they became prey we don’t really know. No one was really watching closely. When her son
moved back home to help look after her and the house they decided it was time for Fluffy
and her last remaining kitten to be rescued. They continue to put food out for them. Since
their porch railing was close to the kitchen window the cats would sit up there and they
would open the window so they could get some warmth but they were not invited in. Very
sad. When Fluffy and her kitten Fern arrived at Pet Patrol they had very thick winter fur and
a few matts but they were friendly and affectionate. Their personalities are very sweet and
gentle.

Personality:

Such sweet cats. They both are pretty laid back and easy going. Naturally they were a
little concerned about coming into the sanctuary, where they had never been before, but
soon they adjusted. They are quite content, love to be pet and especially brushed, and they
accept ear rubs and chin scratches readily. It was not difficult to pick them up and place
them in their carrier for their vet check either. Both are learning about toys that crinkle and
bounce, and catnip mice are the favourite. Fern is quite attached to her mother Fluffy and is
never far from her. It is adorable to watch them groom each other and they cuddle each
other constantly. They are adorable. Both are ready to be adopted into their new home
together. One that will welcome them into the family and keep them safely indoors
