Rescue:
Poor Niska, she was found living on the street and no one seemed to care. The weather
was scorchingly hot and there was little shade, some days no water and only scraps of
food. She was looking quite thin and disheveled when finally, one woman took note and
wanted to help this little cat. She also noticed that Niska was quite pregnant. Befriending
her took some time as she was quite wary of people by now. They had not helped her, fed
her or provided shelter for her, so she could not trust them. But with good food and being
enticed into a humane trap, she was soon on her way to the safety of the woman’s home.
The woman contacted Pet Patrol to see if we could take her in, but sometimes what happens
with busy schedules, telephone tag resulted in a delay and the kittens were born
before coming into the sanctuary. Four little cuties, all plump and well fed. Three days later
they were in a Pet Patrol foster home, and all have thrived.
Personality:
Coming from an uncertain life, where you didn’t know from one day to the next if you were
going to be safe or not, to living the life of luxury, Niska has adapted well. She is a very
loving and gentle cat who appreciates all that has been done for her and her kittens. Niska
will make a wonderful addition to a quiet household where they will allow her to adjust at her
own speed. With patience Niska is happy to cuddle, loves a nice belly rub and will sit on
your lap. She is adorable. She is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will
welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
