My name is Ruby and I was left behind when my owners moved. I made my way to a townhouse complex where there was row upon row of homes and people came and went. There were cars in the parking lot, people walking down the street, children with bikes. A decent neighbourhood with a lot of people but nobody would let me into their house. When they realized that I was pregnant I was brought in to have my kittens. When they were old enough the people were good enough to find homes for them but nobody wanted me. Finally a kind woman called Pet Patrol and said she’s been trying to find a place for me for a while. She knew winter was coming and not being spayed she did not want me to have any more hardships in my life. I’m a nice cat! I love everybody and I adapt easily. Why won’t anybody love me? After coming to Pet Patrol I settled in nicely and went to the vet to be spayed. During the surgery they discovered that I had Pyrometria. That is an infection of the uterus which happens sometimes to cats that do not get spayed. My uterus was full of pus and the tissue around it was starting to fall apart. The vet did her best; but when she clamped off the delicate tissue it started to fall apart and a little bit of the infection got into my abdominal cavity. I was sent home with antibiotics but I was nauseous right away. I was coughing and throwing up; the smell of food just put me over the edge. I was a very unhappy cat. I was taken back to the clinic right away and the blood work showed another type of infection. Not good. More antibiotics, but it was obvious to my foster mom at the sanctuary that I needed heavy duty IV antibiotics. I was rushed to a different clinic on an emergency basis, where the vet could look after me all weekend. I am a very sick cat. My temperature climbed up to 40 degrees and I couldn’t eat. We are all crossing our fingers, toes and paws that I come through this. My foster mom has great faith that I will, although it is pretty much touch and go right now. I’m a strong cat but Pet Patrol needs help to continue with my medical care. There is a huge bill and more costs to ensue, $2000 and counting. Would you be able to help with the cost of my recovery, which is still ongoing? I am a good kitty, and if I started out with nine lives I have a few more left to share my love with people.
