Rescue:
Pet Patrol received a call late in the evening excitedly saying “We got him!”. About 3 to 4
weeks earlier a nice couple had asked if they could borrow a humane trap to help rescue
three cats that suddenly appeared on their remote property. They are near a reservoir, and
there are no neighbours within miles. The cats seemed curious and not overly frightened but
still apprehensive about approaching people. Food and water was put out for them in hopes
that they would feel more comfortable, but instead as each day went by, they became more
timid and then more aloof. It appears these cats have been dumped. For them to start off
friendly and then become more socially distant tells us they were preowned. After not seeing
the cats during the day for a while the people set up a trail cam, and would see them up
at all hours throughout the night. One after another, and then the occasional raccoon. Finally
on this evening one went into the humane trap and it was obvious from
the beginning that the cat was quite friendly and could be pet immediately. Named Jerome
at that time, he was so grateful to be rescued and someplace safe. The rescue effort
continues for his siblings.
Personality:
Jerome is a very nice, tall and long boy, who appreciated being rescued and brought indoors
again. He is very in tune with his people and likes to rub up against your legs, flop
beside you on the couch and purrs deeply. He is fine with just one cat, or on his own, but at
the sanctuary it was just too much for him. Jerome is ready to be care free and fun loving
again now that the hardships of being abandoned are behind him. He is ready to be
adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him
safely indoors
