Rescue:
A woman who used to be a vet tech, and now trains puppies to sit, stay and be good little
guys, was the one who found this little kitten. She was on one of the country side roads
picking up vegetables from a road side stand. She couldn’t help but notice Rowan playing
with the children. This property was owned by people who live an old fashioned lifestyle,
where cars are prohibited, traditional dress is required and their livelihood depends on the
farm and selling produce. In chatting with the mother there, our volunteer asked about the
little kitten and commented how cute he was. During the conversation it was made clear that
he could go to off to a new home at any time. “We have enough cats here” she said. “We
don’t need any more. He just showed up one day, we don’t know where he came from. We
often get people dropping off cats here. We don’t feed the cats. So he will not do well.”
Although the children were sad to see him go, it was time for him to have a loving family
where he will be kept safe indoors.
Personality:
Rowan is a dear little cat who is all about fun and love. Even though he was tired and dirty,
and he had mild eye irritation, he played with the new toys at his foster home right after
eating lots of food. He is easy to pick up and cuddle, will purr instantly and loudly, and
snuggles right in. He is quite a brave soul and will investigate everything that comes into the
house, new rooms, cupboards and closets. He wants to know where his people are too.
Rowan is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into the
family and keep him safely indoors.
