Shasta

Rescue:

A woman who lives on a country property, on the main road, in a small village is used to
having cats migrate to her property. She lives kitty corner to a farm that is overrun with cats.
When you look at this property from the road, all you see is the house and the barn. But as
you move further behind those buildings you see a sea of abandoned trailers, dumpsters,
sheds and scrap metal. There are lots of places for cats and rodents to find shelter and to
keep out of the weather except in the winter time. Then they migrate into the horse stable.
There is an abundance of cats because none have ever been spayed or neutered, or considered
worthy either. When the female cats are due to have their kittens they make their
way across the field and through a small wooded area to the woman’s chicken coop or
shop. As in the case of Shima (Shasta’s mom) , the friendliest one the woman has ever had
migrate to her place, who was able to have her kittens in a comfortable bed in a safe environment.
Once the kittens reached six weeks of age they were all brought to Pet Patrol.
Now they are happy and healthy kittens, friendly and ready for adoption.

Personality:

“Full steam ahead” is Shasta’s motto. He is usually the first among his litter mates to pounce
when a bouncy ball rolls by. He entertains himself by rolling onto his back and batting at the
toys hanging above him. Rub Shasta’s belly and you may be rewarded with a strong loud
purr, or he may kick your hand away kangaroo-style and challenge you to a play fight. This
handsome boy is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into
the family and keep him safely indoors.
