Rescue:
A fellow co-worker brought a litter of kittens to the attention of one of our volunteers, during
a conversation. The babies were all orange and living underneath a trailer on a property
that had a lot of outbuildings. Being a supporter of rescuing cats, she was very interested in
helping these little ones grow up in a loving home environment and not a smelly junk yard.
She was given the contact information and approached their caretaker. The man was very
hesitant at first to even talk to her, but when he realized she was a cat lover like he was, he
thought it was worth a chat. He feeds a colony of cats on his property and provides a large
heated trailer for shelter and gives them fresh food and water every day. All the cats have
good weight and clean coats but have never been to a vet. Now that the kittens are in our
care, we will be helping to have the mom and dad cat spayed and neutered to keep it a
controlled colony.
Personality:
Sophie came to us as the most timid of the litter of five, but once she trusts you, you’ll be
best friends. She enjoys playing “kitten” on her back, and getting gentle belly rubs. Once
you get her purring, she is a little purr machine and likes to come in for cuddles before bed.
She will remind you she’s there by showering your ankles with kisses (and your face, hands,
whatever else she can get to). Her favourite toys are the cat tunnel, pompom toys, and
anything she can climb. She has cute little kitty dreams while sleeping in boxes, cat caves,
or the window ledge with her brother Sebastian. Sophie is ready to be adopted into her
forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
