Rescue:

Pet Patrol received a call about a young calico cat with kittens. The calico was noticed hanging around a house at the end of February and being very cold and wet outside, the people living there started to feed her. She took refuge under the deck, and it took a long time to convince her that people were trustworthy. Their hopes were to bring her inside where it was safe and warm, but she eluded any type of rescue. About a month later they noticed her belly was quite large, indicating she was near the end of her pregnancy, but still she was not interested in coming into the house. They knew when she had given birth as she appeared very thin one day, and the search was on for her babies. They followed her to an old car stored in the barn and inside they found her four little kittens. They reached out to one of our volunteers for help to bring in mom and babies, and with a humane trap it was done quickly. All of her kittens have been adopted and she is ready to live the carefree indoor life now.

Personality:

Melody is a pretty little dilute calico with patches of peach and grey on her white coat. She is a slim and elegant cat, quite agile and has made herself at home here in the sanctuary. She is outgoing and friendly, affectionate and interested in all you do. Melody is learning to play with toys, they were a mystery to her at first as she had never had anything like that on the street. She would prefer an adult only home, with or without another passive cat and no small children. We are not sure what her response would be to dogs. Melody is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
