Rescue
We are not sure where Toby originally came from, as he was turned into the local shelter. Sometimes people say they are strays, when they are actually owned cats, and sometimes the cat truly was a lost or abandoned cat. In any case, a very nice man adopted Toby into his home. He auditioned well at the shelter, but when he got home it was a different story. The apartment building had paper thin walls and every noise or voice bothered him. There were loud and angry voices in the apartment down stairs, and the busy street sounds were nothing like what he was used to. Poor Toby, he was having a hard time adjusting, no matter what his new owner did. A second kitten was adopted, and the two of them bonded immediately, and had a great time playing, but Toby would have nothing to do with his new owner. Toby is much better with women, and like we say, we do not know his complete history before the shelter.

Personality
Toby is a wonderful, loving and affectionate cat, who needs his forever home to be calm and predictable. He seems to prefer women, perhaps his first owner was a woman, and that is all he is used to, but he will gradually get used to a kind hearted man in the house as well. Toby gets along with playful cats, those that will share their toys, show him the kitty climber and like games of Tag and Hide & Seek. He is a beautiful long and lean orange tabby, with rich auburn stripes and beautiful deep gold eyes. Toby is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
