One year a woman approached Pet Patrol about taking in her three lovely, well socialized kittens who all came from her country property.  Their mother cat had disappeared and the people who owned the small farm had hand raised them, making them very people oriented babies. The husband and wife, and their children, enjoyed having the kittens but knew they needed to control the over population of cats and not let things get out of hand.  Fast forward to the next spring and another stray showed up in the shop and had a litter of four kittens, Poppy being one of them. The mother was quite friendly, but when the kittens came into our care they were more frightened. Strange. It seems that although the mother cat liked people, when it came to touching her kittens she was wary and would growl. This told the kittens to beware of the humans, and the people weren’t sure what to do so they avoided touching the babies. This delayed their socializing, but soon all caught up and became friendly and affectionate little cats with time and patience.  Poppy and her three other siblings came around quite nicely and are now ready to be adopted.

Poppy is a beautifully marked spotted grey tabby which means she has pretty peach spots throughout her coat.  She is very sweet and gentle, and doesn’t mind being pet or receiving a good scratch behind her ears.  She is easy to entertain with toys like the plastic springs or a cat nip mouse, but also enjoys the company of her people.  Poppy would do well as an only cat, having her person all to herself or perhaps with a gentle dog.  This nice little cat is easy to love and ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
