Rescue
Sweet, sweet Molly. She was first sighted last fall, peeking her little head out from under the back deck of one of our volunteers. She quickly disappeared again. Our volunteer went into the house, filled a bowl with cat food, placed it on the deck and went back into the house and watched. No sooner had the door closed that Molly came out, scrambling low to the ground and gobbling down all the food, then slipping into her hiding place again. Our volunteer filled the bowl three times, and each time Molly came out and ate all the food, then disappeared under the deck. During this time they were able to observe Molly’s condition and health. She was incredibly thin and her fur was matted and thin in areas. The next day our volunteers put out a humane trap and she ran right in for the food. From there she was placed in a spare bedroom, and a lot of time was spent with Molly, gaining her trust and letting her rest and feel comfortable in her new environment. Molly has come a long way.
Personality
We are not sure where Molly originated from, but it might have been from the barn down the road. It had been torn down in the fall just before the weather turned cold, and the barn cats (who were all quite friendly) had no place to go for shelter. Their food was cut off, their safety and all things familiar were gone. It was devastating. Molly is one of the lucky ones to find our volunteer’s home and to be nurtured and loved. She is a gentle and sweet cat, who likes to play, is fine with other friendly cats and very easy to live with. Molly is now ready to be adopted.
