Luna and her kittens were born in a barn, where there were many litters of kittens discovered in the hayloft. A lady who rescues cats and coordinates the Trap-Neuter-Release program, had initially heard about the farm in the spring through a mutual friend. During our volunteer’s visit to the barn she found several of the females were very pregnant (Luna being one of them) and some of the other cats were showing unhealthy signs of malnutrition, and extensive dental decay from not having a decent diet. Their daily meal consisted of the lowest grade of cat food and the occasional can of Spaghettios dumped on top, which is hardly a proper diet for a carnivore animal. Those needing medical care were rescued first. Returning to the barn a few weeks later, kittens had been born in the hayloft, and because the moms share caring for the kittens all the little ones had eye infections. It was important to rescue them right away, so they could be treated and not have eye damage. The rescue mission was successful and Luna and her four babies came to Pet Patrol when they were only three and a half weeks old.

Luna is a lovely cat who is calm, easy going and affectionate. She is good with her people and will come up to you for petting, a little cat chat and will definitely let you know when it is dinner time. She likes other cats and can be found laying on the same bed with them, or going nose to nose, she fit right into the sanctuary without issue. Luna likes to play and is active. She likes her toys and especially the catnip mice as she will roll around on the floor with it in pure delight. Luna is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
