Rescue:

One of Pet Patrol Board members was visiting family and heard a cat meowing outside. It
always seems to happen that the lost cats migrate to her no matter where she is. This little cat
was on the fence crying and the surprised family members had never seen her before. She
was easily coaxed over and pet, it was then discovered that she was very pregnant, her belly
was huge. A little dirty with some leaves stuck in her long hair, she was extremely hungry and
obviously did not have a home to go to. Our volunteer went knocking on a few doors and
nobody seemed to own the cat or know who did, but she had been hanging around a few
neighbors’ backyards for a while. Notices were posted about her on the lost cat sites, but no
luck finding the owner. By this time the kitty had wandered off with a full belly of food and
sought out shade in the green belt behind the house. Being black she disappeared into the
wooded area but our volunteer sought her out again and brought her into Pet Patrol care. Now
named Harlequin she gave birth to six lovely kittens (Hammie, Hank, Holly, Homer, Houdini
and Hope) who have been raised in a dedicated and loving foster home.

Personality:

Harlequin’s kittens are not only super cute but super social and cuddly too. They are like a
mini team of tumblers, acrobats, Indy 500 participants and mountain climbers. They are active, social and very innocent, but curious and outgoing. They definitely need to go in pairs but
doesn’t matter who goes with who as they all are pretty equal in size and agility. Cat tunnels or
boxes are always fun to jump in and out of and add a toy with a bell – wow! All toys are inspected and played with, including bouncing balls, plastic springs and the feathery toys are the
best to chase and catch. When all that fun tires them out, you can find them curled or piled up
in pairs or all together for a good long nap. Homer is ready to be adopted with a sibling into
his forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors
