Rescue:

It is very rare for Pet Patrol to be able to rescue cats that are considered “Smoke Tabbies”.
This means that they may appear to be black in coat colour, or deep grey, but when you part
their fur, it is white. This is called Smoke and usually we only see one every five years or so.
We have been extremely fortunate to have six and possibly more, come into our care from one
farm property. It is a mixed animal farm, mostly beef, and the cats have taken to living in the
hay loft. The owner of the property likes the cats, but there are just too many of them, and the
kittens needed to find family homes. She feeds them daily and provides water, but the only
shelter is up high amongst big bales of hay. The cats will burrow in between the bales; but it is
dusty and the straw is quite sharp and harsh. The woman’s neighbour had received help from
a small rescue in the area last year, and her colony is now small, healthy and no more unwanted
kittens being born. She encouraged her friend to do the same and soon these wee
kittens were on their way to a different and love filled life.

Personality:

Snickers loves to have a buddy to play with and chase after the springy toys, balls in a circle
toy and anything that dangles from a wand. He will meow when looking for attention or his
sister who balances him well in personality and energy. Snickers is more the daredevil, jumping
up and off of everything especially the cat tree. Always looking for something to do, he is
quite investigative and very interested in what is happening in the house (whereas Skittles is
more chill and likes to watch her crazy brother). He has his down time as well and is well
known for sleeping in the most interesting positions, upside down with at least one hind leg
sticking straight out. Snickers is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will
welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
