Rescue
One of Pet Patrol’s volunteers lives just outside of town where it is not uncommon to have abandoned and stray cats show up at their neighbour’s home. They care for about eight feral (wild) cats there and provide food, fresh water and shelter. One by one these cats have been rescued, and if friendly, they find them homes, if truly feral, they are spayed or neutered and released back outside where they resume feeding and caring for them. For our volunteer, their living room windows look out onto bush and trees and one day they spotted little Tonto and his momma Tilley sitting on their deck. It was unusual for strays to be at their door, but immediately food was put out for them and the two dove into the food. Within a few days our volunteer had rescued Tilley but it took another week to bring in Tonto. This little guy immediately showed us that he enjoyed being indoors and out of the cold and rain. But he has yet to show us his gentle side.

Personality
Tonto is a good looking black and white cat with a dot on his chin that looks like a goatee. He is a big goof too. He is a playful little guy and likes to climb the kitty climber and chase cat nip mice around the room. He perches up on top of the TV cabinet and watches with interest at the squirrels and activity outside the window. Tonto does like the company of the other cats in our care and would do well with a playmate in his new home. He is timid with new people and would not do well in a home with children or barky dogs. With time and patience, Tonto will be a great cat to have in your home. He is looking for a calm and predictable home. One that will welcome him as part of the family and love him unconditionally.
