Rescue:
Pet Patrol has a wide variety of volunteers who live throughout the Tri-City area, and they
always look out for stray cats in their neighborhoods. This is the story of Timber. He appeared
as a very timid but curious boy and it is unknown how much human exposure he has had in his
life. When people tried to approach him, he would quickly run away, sometimes stopping to
look back, sometimes not. This cherub faced pewter grey boy had been living in the same
neighbourhood for at least a year and a dedicated couple had been leaving food out for him.
He had been noticed occasionally since the winter of 2020 and eventually he started coming
every night and hanging around one house that provided him with shelter for the winter. Although
this was just a temporary situation and the couple planned on rescuing him as soon as
they knew Pet Patrol had room at the sanctuary. Being part of a rescue organization means
that you have ready access to humane traps and it took no time for our volunteers to rescue
Timber and bring him into care.
Personality:
Timber is part of our Hobby Farm program as he has chosen not to have anything to do with
people. He is very appreciative of the comforts of the sanctuary, the food, fresh water and
climate control. But if he had the choice he would be in a freely roaming environment where
he could have a home base (hobby farm) and the necessities of life at his disposal (food and
shelter). He is sure to be a good mouser as we have watched him on occasion go after a
catnip mouse or bouncy ball, batting and tackling it like a pro. Timber is a healthy cat who
would like a job of rodent control. He is ready to be adopted into a safe Hobby farm situation
with people who will watch out for him and consider him part of the family.
