Big boy Teddy was rescued by one of our long time volunteers. She has a knack for recognizing potential in street cats like no other. In the past she has brought into our care other male cats from her neighbourhood. Floyd and Brownie were two of them. Both appeared to be quite ferocious, mistrusting, rough looking from lack of food and shelter, and miserable while living outdoors. In her heart of hearts she knew that these cats were social underneath and deserved an opportunity to show their true selves. This was the same thought for Teddy. When he first arrived in our care he was very unsure of our intentions and what we were all about, but he was happy to have a soft bed and plenty of food. Overtime and with patience he proved to be just as friendly as she thought he would be.

It started with petting him while giving him treats. He seemed to like it. Then came the ear rubs, neck and back massages and the brush was just the best thing ever. He stopped looking at people with fear, and instead with interest and became more comfortable in our care. Teddy is on his way to showing us his social side. He has made the jump from fear to friendly and we look forward to seeing more of his gentle giant personality. Teddy is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that is calm and easy going, will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
