Rescue:

Spencer never had the opportunity to be handled by people when he was younger, and in his
adult life he tried to find shelter in sheds and barns. He was an unwelcome guest in some of
the neighboring farms as they had enough cats and fed them meagrely, he was chased away
by people and other animals who would try to attack him. One day he was noticed in the
untitled field behind Pet Patrol’s sanctuary by the volunteers. On numerous occasions he had
a mouse or rat in his mouth, showing his proficiency for hunting. Healthy cat food and fresh
water was immediately put out for him, and he took full advantage. Eventually he took refuge
under the garden shed, but it certainly would not be a safe or warm place as the weather
became colder in the fall and winter. One miserable day a humane trap and its aromatic
canned cat food were just too tempting for him and Spencer soon was rescued and brought
into the sanctuary. Warmth, plenty of food and attention were provided.

Personality:

While in the safety of the sanctuary Spencer has enjoyed the life of soft beds, endless food
and fresh water. He is good with the other cats and is happy to cuddle up with them, share
toys and treats. When he first arrived and was very unsure about everything and would hiss at
our volunteers and scurry around, he still hisses but not as seriously as before and just keeps
his distance. Spencer has let us know not to touch him, it is just not his thing. He has had all
his teeth removed because they were in terrible shape and certainly causing him pain. It is a
wonder how he survived outside for so long, fending for himself. Such a survivor. Spencer is
looking for a mousing job, one that provides food and shelter and people who will look out for
him on a healthy hobby farm.
