Rescue
Different cat rescue organizations do different types of rescuing. Some take in only friendly cats, others will orchestrate trap-neuter-release programs, and others will take care of feral cat colonies. That is where Sophie and her kittens came from, a feral colony that was trying to survive in the concrete jungle of an industrial park. Sophie is almost pure white, except for a grey smudge on top of her head, she was terribly frightened and very pregnant when rescued. She was enticed into a humane trap and taken to a quiet and caring foster home so she could have her kittens in safety. When she gave birth, she knew exactly what to do, but things were not quite right. Three of the kittens had their feet stuck in the placenta, and eventually one lost his foot due to lack of circulation. Then the littlest kitten passed away because basically, he was just not made right. But in the end, the rest of the kittens were healthy and adopted, and most loooked exactly like their momma.
Personality
Being raised in a parking lot, amongst cars and factories, does not create a sociable cat. But over time pretty little Sophie has learned to appreciate gentle petting, have her neck massaged or her ears rubbed, and she is trusting enough to be picked up and come to people for attention. Sophie is gentle and loving and has come a long way and has made herself at home. She can be found sleeping on the couch or on the bed with the other cats and her people too. She loves to play and will chase anything, uses a scratching post and joins in on games of Tag and Chase the Tail with the other foster kitties. Sophie is ready to be adopted into a forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
