A tearful phone message was left on the Pet Patrol line from a woman whose brother had just died. He had a very difficult time fighting cancer and she was his main caregiver. The woman is a cat lover and had noticed there were three adult stray cats outside his house, and little Shelly as well. One was Maurice, who turned out to be a very nice, friendly cat and soon after starting to feed him two little Torti females showed up with him. Again they were very nice gentle and friendly cats. By now the man had lost his driver’s license and was very out of sorts, didn’t know what to do with himself, and felt very lost. With the encouragement of his sister he learned more about the cats, respected their poor living situation and eventually invited them into the house. She made sure that they were spayed or neutered and had their vaccinations. They definitely made a difference in his life as he was happier and had something to look forward to every day. When he passed away it was devastating to the family, but now she didn’t know what to do with the cats. Eventually Maurice and Shelly, were brought into Pet Patrol care and looked after. The two Torti’s went to another rescue group and are doing well.

What a little doll Shelly is, but she is also a bit of a tomboy. She is very agile and super playful. Anything can become a toy to be batted around, pounced on and chased after. She is curious and likes o know what is going on, who is visiting and what is new coming into the house. She is just delightful. Shelly and Maurice get along quite well, but she is good with other cats and kittens too. Shelly is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
