Sandy is named after a favourite childhood cat of her rescuer. He is a kind person who works at a chemical plant in a smaller town and his cats are his kids.  He was alerted to Sandy by a coworker, who saw her and her kittens in a den underneath a transformer.  The area was gated off from the plant, the parking lot and the employees and public, so to a mother cat, this was a safe and ideal place for her kittens.  Food and water was immediately put out for her and a plan was put in place for them all to be rescued.  The area was close to some of the offices and the staff there were ready to help by watching the humane trap. On day one, a little kitten was rescued, then in the afternoon Sandy and another kitten were brought into care.  Next day another kitten was adopted and taken home by a staff member and then the fourth kitten was brought into Pet Patrol care too.  One more baby was still out there, and it was a Friday and there would be no one around who would have access to this gated area.  Food and water was put out, and the weekend staff kept watch for her.  It was heart wrenching to think of her out there all weekend on her own.  On Monday she was found a fair distance from her den, but safe and sound and was soon brought into Pet Patrol care.  All have been reunited and are doing extremely well.

Sandy was on guard when she first arrived, but as she settled in she allowed us to pet her, give her back massages and soon she began to purr.  Now in her foster home she has proven to be a very nice and loving cat.  She will quickly start rubbing up against you for attention, and she loves to play with all types of toys.  She is a neighbourhood watch cat, as she will check out the view from every window possible.  Sandy is ready to be adopted into a gentle and quiet forever home.  One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
