Marcus and his brother Micah were first noticed in a scrap yard a number of months ago. It was in an industrial area, and they stayed behind the chain link fence most of the time, rarely venturing further. Somewhere in the depths of metal junk they found a place for shelter. It certainly was not warm or completely weather proof, but it was all they had. A young couple started feeding them, and although the kittens were shy, they started coming closer and closer as their trust was gained. They were soon coming under the fence for attention and food, and the couple were able to pick them up and cuddle them. Micah was very friendly but his little brother Marcus took a bit more time. Both could be placed on your lap and they seemed quite content to cuddle right in. As winter was approaching the couple were unsure of what to do, but they didn’t want to leave the cats there to the brutal winter winds and snow. They reached out to social media and eventually the cats came to Pet Patrol.

Marcus did not know what to think when he first came into the sanctuary. There were boundaries like walls, doors, windows and ceilings. Things were clean, and there was plenty of food, fresh water and the beds were so soft. It took a little time for him to feel comfortable, but soon he was sitting beside you and purring happily. It has been fun to watch him explore toys, the kitty climber and looking out the windows from the second story, a birds eye view. We feel that Marcus would do well in a private home, rather than at the sanctuary, where he would get more one to one attention and bring out his affectionate side. He is ready to be adopted into a forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
