Rescue
Through the grapevine of rescue organizations, Pet Patrol became aware of Florence and Zebedee. Here is their story: A woman went to see a “breeder” of Flame Point Siamese, and was shocked to find the cats were kept in an unheated shed at the back of the property. There were more than two dozen cats there and they were kept in wire cages, bits of cardboard and no proper food or comfort. The man usually bred birds and small animals for pet stores, but was talked into taking the Siamese from a breeder who no longer wanted to do it. He was also this woman’s former elementary school teacher, now retired. She kindly offered to find the cats homes and over time just did that. Florence and Zebedee were the last two, and the most traumatized by the experience. Once all the cats were safely out of harm’s way, the man was reported to the local SPCA for cruelty to animals. Back street breeders need to be reported and stopped.
Personality
Florence was an extremely nervous little cat when she first arrived. Like all Siamese when they are nervous Florence sought out the highest place she could find; the top of the bakers rack! She has made a lot of progress since then and can be quite affectionate and likes to play with catnip toys when she doesn’t think anyone is watching. She is interested in what you are doing and is very good at helping with your computer work…just as long as you keep up the petting! Florence is very vocal when it comes to her needs, she can tell you when it is time for tea. She likes to cuddle with Zebedee, the cat who was rescued at the same time as her as they are best buddies and hold kitty conversations. She would do well in a calm home, one that has the patience to continue to help her develop her confidence. It would be nice for Florence and Zebedee to remain together in their forever home. One that will welcome them into the family and keep them safely indoors.
