Rescue:

Pet Patrol received a call from one of our former foster homes, situated in a small tourist village. She had taken care of many cats for us in the past and had done a great job. She called to say there was a pretty orange mother cat, with her four little kittens (Emilia, Emmie, Emmette and Everette), running around her street. She was concerned for them, and since the village had a number of strays, breeding freely, she didn’t want to add to the problem. She was going to ask around to see who is feeding them and then coordinate their rescue from there. The woman discovered that a gentleman on the street was finding homes for them, but in the meantime they were not brought inside for safety and that set off alarm bells. We were still open to bringing in the kittens and mom as well, but the man was convincing in his determination to look after the cats. Fast forward, from summer to fall, and a neighbour from the same street brought in Emmie and her three siblings. You are correct in your thoughts, it was the same feline family! The mother cat has been rescued and a home found for her, and her kittens have thrived.

Personality:

Emmie and Emilia needed a little more time to convince them that people were trustworthy but now they are easy to pet and cuddly. Picking up was something that had to be learned. They developed quickly into nice gentle and loving kittens, are playful and run around after toys and tails. Scampering up the kitty climber to the highest perch to look out over the kitty playroom, and outside as well. They have no desire to go outside any more and are quite content in their new environment at the Pet Patrol sanctuary. Emmie is ready to be adopted into her forever home, hopefully with her sister Emilia. One that will welcome her into the family and will keep her safely indoors.
