Pet Patrol has known a woman, who lives in a village not far from the sanctuary, for many years. She routinely has mother cats come to her empty chicken coop. located at the back of her property, to have their kittens. The roof tops of the farm that they migrate from, can be seen from her back door, but the cats have to travel through two large fields and through the bush. Critters like hawks and fox reside in the woods and look at cats as prey. How these mother cats persevere to have their kittens in a safe environment is honorable. For little Elise and Ella, they were born into a litter of four kittens in the chicken coop. As soon as the woman saw a mother cat going in and out of the small hut, she started putting food and water out for her. She would check every few days to see if the kittens were there, and eventually found them in a nest of straw in one of the roosting boxes. Although the woman worked on socializing the kittens, the other two kittens were more skittish and needed more one to one attention before they came into Pet Patrol care. A plan is in place to spay the mother cat, so that the constant flow of kittens is under control.

Elise and Ella are quite attached to each other, and when they first came into Pet Patrol care, they curled up in the kitty bed and looked out at their odd new world. Within a very short period of time they showed us how cuddly they were with people. They liked to be picked up and they purred happily in our arms. Their life before was isolated from people and the lack of living indoors and having any toys to play with. But these sweet girls are now more confident and love to test out the kitty climbers, tunnels, toys and a cardboard box will go a long way. They are happy and content. Elise and Ella would like to be adopted together into their forever home. One that will welcome them into the family and keep them safely indoors.
