Dobby’s rescue story seems fairly simple. A farmer texted one of our volunteers and asked if she could find a home for him as he was “too pretty to be a barn cat”. Plus “long haired cats are always a mess in a barn” with straw, dirt and feces getting caught in their fur. It was a farm like any other with cows, chickens and a few pigs. The buildings were not heated and were piled high with bales of hay, large machinery and many stalls holding the larger animals. Cats and the family dog freely walked on the cement walkways, dodging people and horses, and were free roaming outside as well. We are not sure where Dobby originated from. Was he born on the property, abandoned there or did he migrate from another farm? We may never know. But he is now safe and sound in Pet Patrol care and ready for a forever home.

When Dobby first arrived he certainly was not as stunningly handsome as he is today. We attribute his make over to having a loving foster home, good nutrition and proper vet care. He was incredibly shy and distant from his caregivers upon arrival, and it took a lot of time and patience to earn his trust. With dedication Dobby has become a more confident and affectionate boy. He is as beautiful inside as he is outside now, and enjoys his new life. He is playful and entertaining, good company and fine with other cats as well. Dobby is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
