Rescue:

In the late fall, just a week before a major snow fall, Darius was discovered sleeping on a
bench underneath a raised back yard deck. It surprised our volunteer who lives on their country
property, and it surprised him too and he ran off. “I started leaving food out and he was eating
it but we actually didn’t see him again for nearly a week. Then my husband was filling the bird
feeders and Darius came through the arbour and retreated again when spotted. Finally today
I glimpsed a black cat tail going past the screen door. I went out and he was sitting in the
bushes by the pond. I talked to him and he came a few steps closer and sat down indicating
he is a friendly cat but frightened. I put out a bowl of wet cat food and eventually he RAN
around the pond to the bottom of the stairs and played coy…. up three steps down one. He
gradually worked his way up the stairs, grabbed a mouthful and retreated a few steps away.
Next thing he is on the deck looking in the screen door and crying. I went outside and when he
came close, I could stroke him, then I just picked him up and cuddled him. He purred immediately.”
Soon afterwards this lovely boy was in Pet Patrol care.

Personality:

What a happy cat Darius is to be inside, warm, dry and with endless food and comfort. The
first thing he did when brought into our care was eat to his fill and curl up in the soft kitty bed for
a deep sleep. He is a playful cat and great at sharing a ball to chase, leaping at the wand toy
and recently he has discovered catnip mice. Wow! Did he have a good time playing with that.
Darius is just the sweetest boy and has adapted to living at the sanctuary with the other cats
without incident. He is great with everyone and likes to be pet and cuddled by the volunteers.
Darius is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into the family
and keep him safely indoors.
