Cheeto was first spotted in late February when the weather was bitterly cold, the wind was biting, and there didn’t seem to be any end in sight. He was noticed in a trailer home park and a very nice woman began feeding him and she also built him a proper cat shelter. But it turns out he already had a place, under her neighbour’s trailer with a groundhog. Sometimes he would show up with pink insulation bits stuck to his fur. Not ideal but it was the only way he could survive the below zero temperatures. He was very frightened of people at first, but she could see something in him. She thought underneath that fear he was a friendly boy. She named his Cheeto Bandito because all she saw was an orange streak as he scurried away. As the weather started to get a little better the woman noticed that an owned outdoor cat and a feral cat in the same area were picking on Cheeto and roughing him up pretty badly. The woman knew he needed rescuing. She set up a humane trap and brought him into Pet Patrol where her premonitions of his personality proved correct. Cheeto loved to be touched. The woman was impressed with Pet Patrol and our care of the cats and is now a regular volunteer.

Cheetos surprised us all with how friendly and affectionate he was. The first time we were able to pet him he seemed so grateful for the affection and pushed his head into our hand for more. Since then he has been integrated into the sanctuary with the other cats and has done very well. He is an affectionate, curious and playful cat who just needed a bit of time to get used to things. Cheeto likes to lay in the sun, stretch out on the beds and play with the many toys we have. He likes the laser pen light and bouncy balls. Cheeto is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
