Pet Patrol received a text from a woman with a photo of dear Carlton sitting on her back deck, looking forlornly through her sliding door. She put food out for him and he gobbled it right down. He was very hungry which indicated that he hadn’t had a home for a long time. Doing a little bit of research in her neighborhood she found that at the end of her street is a home that is a rental. Often the people who rent the property stay a short period of time and leave quickly and, according to the neighbours, Carlton was the last tenant’s cat. How sad for him. Left behind. It didn’t take much for her to entice him into a carrier and soon Carlton was on his way to safety and security at Pet Patrol. He was not neutered when he arrived which could be the reason why he was abandoned. Carlton is a lovely big boy though, and is now ready for adoption.

When he first arrived in our care, Carlton was not impressed. He had put his trust and faith in people before and ended up abandoned on the street. That was not fair and he didn’t do anything to deserve it. About a week after arriving he was taken into the vet to be neutered, and that alien adventure did not sit well with him either. But with time and patience and once he was moved to a larger space, with other friendly and passive cats, Carleton really started to shine. Within days he was starting to relax and feel better about the people, he was showing that although proud and handsome, he could play like a kitten. Carlton is now ready to be adopted into a forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
