Rescue:

Pet Patrol received a call about a very sad situation where house cats were living in deplorable conditions, and needed to be rescued. We contacted the owner of the cats, a man who’s wife had died of cancer a few months back, to see if he needed help. He told us that his wife loved the cats, they were all from one litter, friendly and sat on her lap all the time. He just wanted them out, and really had nothing to do with them on a daily basis. No play time, no toys, no interaction. The six cats were born to their elderly female cat who had died at Christmas time. They spent most of their time cuddled up on the couch and keeping each other company. Upon entry of the house the rescuer was hit with the intense smell of cigarette smoke, stale urine and a house that had not been cleaned for a very long time. The place was cluttered and dirty, and the cats were upset and frightened. There were six in total, Amaya, Apala, Aya and Abram were the first to come into our care, the other two, Arric and Augustin, came a week later.

Personality:

Aya would do best if adopted with a sibling. They are all quite attached to each other and get along extremely well. While in the home they shared, they were each others best friend and basically that is all they had. Since coming into our care they have received much more interaction from volunteers and visitors, and are showing us their loving and affectionate side. Toys were quite a mystery for them, and it was interesting to watch them explore and start to play. It was a thrill to see them gain weight and finally smile, and become healthy and happy too. Aya is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors
