Rescue
Pet Patrol volunteers are a dedicated group of people, especially when it come to rescuing cats off the street. In the case of Ashanti and her siblings, our volunteers rescued them from an industrial area of town. Their neighbourhood is surrounded by factories, warehouses and storage units. The asphalt covered parking lots have cars and large trucks coming and going, not paying attention to little cats scurrying around. During the summer the feline families seek the cool shade of the nearby woods, and hunt for rodents. In the winter shelter is scarce and warmth is almost nonexistent. The cats would often be seen running from under one car to another, trying to catch a little warmth from the newly shut off engines. Their housing, where ever that may be, might have snow tracked in so the bedding is damp. Warm and cozy, and a full belly of food, is not part of the equation.

Personality
Ashanti is quite attached to her brother Amari. They cuddle together in a heap, play games and can be seen walking side by side with their tails flopped over each other. We have found this with the other four kittens in the litter, they are very fond of each other. Ashanti is loving and affectionate, she likes to rub up against your legs and chats to you at feeding time. She will sleep on the bed and lay beside you on the couch. She loves to be petted and brushed. Both Ashanti and Amari are very playful. Ashanti is a beautiful and sweet natured kitty looking for her forever home.
