Rescue:

A lady contacted Pet Patrol about a mother cat and her kitten (Paisley) that she had been
feeding over the winter. The cats would come up to her porch and she would have food and
fresh water available for them. She had a small indoor teepee type shelter on her porch for
them, but it wasn’t insulated or closed in. Certainly not warm enough for them to live in. The
kitten was tiny and frightened but knew the lady was her food source. The mother cat,
Priscilla was a bit more wild, but would rub up against the woman’s legs at feeding time.
They were happy to see her as she was their life line. The lady needed help to rescue the
cats as she was afraid they would be attacked by hawks or fox, known to be in the neighbourhood.
She was uncomfortable touching them, and felt a humane trap was the best
idea, but where to take them. She finally found Pet Patrol and one of our volunteers went
over, set the trap and both Priscilla and Paisley, her kitten, went right in.

Personality:

Paisley never took to living indoors and after two months inside the sanctuary it was decided
that she would feel more comfortable in a country setting. Pet Patrol looks for hobby farms
that treat their animals as pets, watches out for them, feeds them and provides a warm and
comfortable place for them around the clock. They would start off in one room that is secure,
so that they will get used to the sounds and smells of the large animals (cows,
horses), but not have to take in all the visual as well. The barn has to be closed in for several
weeks so that when the cat is released into the barn, they stay. It doesn’t take long for
them to know that this is home. Paisley is ready to go to a hobby farm that will respect her,
care for her and protect her as much possible.
